Questions about the real test
What score do I need to pass?
80%. On the General Knowledge test that means 40 of 50 questions right. This practice test uses the same bar.
How many questions are on the real test?
General Knowledge is 50 questions. Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles are 25 each. Each round here is 20 questions so you can finish in about 8 minutes.
Is the test different in North Dakota?
No. The CDL knowledge test follows the federal CDL manual, so the questions cover the same material in North Dakota as everywhere else. Your DMV may word a few items differently and sets its own fee and scheduling rules.
Will I see the same questions again?
No. Every round draws 20 questions you haven't answered yet from the bank of 600, in a new order. Once you've worked through the whole bank, it starts over.
Do I need an account?
No. The practice test is free and you can take as many rounds as you want without signing up. If you want free CDL training and a job placement, that part needs an Emerge account.
